Home & School AssociationYou are here: Helping Hands > Home & School AssociationSt. Dominic School is blessed with a very active Home & School Association. All teachers, parents and guardians of children attending St. Dominic School are automatically members. Our executive board and room parents meet approximately six times throughout the year. Four additional meetings are held for the general membership. Special events and activities are organized by Home & School and held throughout the school year. Several programs such as the We Care Program through Pick ’N Save, the General Mills Box Tops For Education Program as well as Home & School dues enable us to fund our Home & School program. Please feel free to contact the chairperson for each program for more information or with any questions that you may have. Special lunches are prepared and served to our students by parent volunteers for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Catholic School’s Week and the end of the year picnic. Our students and parents have come to look forward to these special lunches. In October we host Open House. Students are given the opportunity to show their parents their classrooms and all the hard work they have done since the beginning of the school year. At the end of January is Catholic School’s Week. This week is a very special week for both our students and Home & School. On Sunday after mass, an open house and science fair are held in school. On Wednesday there is a special lunch prepared and served to our students. On Thursday evening we host Family Entertainment Night. This is a special evening set aside for our students and their families to enjoy. There have been musical groups, magic shows and skating parties, just to name a few. Both students and parents look forward to this special event. In the spring we host Parent’s Night. This is an evening devoted to our school’s parents in appreciation of all the time and effort they have donated to Home & School. The evening may include a potluck or hors d'oeuvres. We may listen to an inspirational speaker or just play a friendly game of Bingo. Whatever is planned, it has always been a good opportunity to get together with other school parents and enjoy some much needed socialization. We wrap up the year with a school picnic for our Kindergarten through 5th grade. The entire day is planned with games in the morning, a special lunch at noon, and various activities in the afternoon including face painting, a craft table, and a jump and bounce. It is truly an exciting day, and a wonderful way to end the school year. |
