First graders at computers.Well-equipped computer labs can be found in many schools with the latest software programs but these labs often remain empty and untouched by the schools’ students other than during computer class. St. Dominic School recognizes the value of integrating computer technology into each classroom.

St. Dominic School has computer pods of five or more Power Macintosh CD-ROM computers in the kindergarten classroom. Grades 1 through 8 work on IBM computers. These rooms have, on average, 7 computers per classroom. Internet hook-up is available and used in all classrooms from kindergarten through grade eight. Computers are used to enhance curriculum, advance instruction, and to help students see computers as tools. These tools can be used in each subject area to advance concepts under study. Teachers have a computer on their desk and communication is facilitated through a school-wide networking system.

A three-year technology plan is in place to provide for selection of appropriate curriculum connected software and the training necessary for teachers to implement the use of that software.
